26/11 Tuesday. Class 10

Hello! Hope you drop sometimes to take a glance at our blog!

Today we kept on talking about films and cinema. We solved a crossword and learnt a lot of new words related to the topic (dubbing, gripping, screenplay, soundtrack, producer, director etc.)

We´ve also revised the adjectives from the previous class and here´re the results of the Olympic Games:

Player 1 - 5 points
Player 2 - 2 points

Player 3 - 0
Player 4 - 4 points
Player 5 - 1 point

Player 6 - 0
Player 7 - 2 points

Hey, some of you really need to revise the words!

Today we were reading some short film reviews and learning some techniques how to write a review. Don´t forget to use passive forms:
The film was directed/released/produced/created.
The actor was nominated/awarded.

Your homework is to write a film review of your favourite film (follow the structure and instructions in your copies). Have a look at the example - Sample Movie Review.

19/11 Tuesday. Class 9

Hello! You forgot at all to look at your blog! Don´t be lazy!

So, today we´ve started a new topic, one of my favourite and hope yours as well - "Movies and Television".
We´ve learnt a lot of new vocabulary: genres of films (adventure, action, horror, noir, suspense, comedy, sci-fi, war, epic etc.), seems you know them pretty well and can recognise the films easily.
Here´s a link to the video we´ve watched today, in case you want to see it again.

Also we´ve learnt a lot of adjectives to describe movies (charming, gripping, hilarious, flawed, wacky, bloody etc.). For a full list of words check please this website - Describing Movies.

We were giving short descriptions to the movies we liked/disliked using the adjectives and some useful phrases (was released, nominated, awarded, starring, based on etc.):

The best/worst/funniest/scariest/most interesting movie I´ve ever seen is ...

Look at the posters below, what genres are these films?

Your homework: choose three films of different genres and give them a short description using the vocabulary we´ve learnt. Do the crossword in your copies.

5/11 Tuesday. Class 7

Hello there!

Today we´ve revised the vocabulary on Parts of the Vehicles (handlebar, saddle, bonnet, bumper, headlights, mudguard, brake, spoke, windscreen etc.). You were really good and here´re the results of Olympic Games:

Player 1 - 2 points
Player 2 - 2 points
Player 3 - 3 points

Also we´ve been talking about Robots and what they can do for people. We´ve learnt some grammar to express ability in present/future and probability (can/can´t, will/won´t be able to, might).

We were making some predictions for future:
Cars will be able to fly in future.
(I don´t think) cars will be able to fly.
I think cars won´t be able to fly.
Most people might have videophones by 2020.

There´re very many nice films about robots and our future life on Earth:
"I, Robot".
"Bicentennial Man"
"Robot&Frank"

What film(s) have you watched about robots? What is it about? Did you like it? Why/why not? Write in your comments below!

Your homework is to prepare a Project "My Dream Car/Bycicle" where you have to "design" a vehicle and describe it and its qualities (what can it do). Think how cars/bikes will look like in future, what they will be able to/might do. Why is your dream car/bike exciting?
